When a westerner (Christian Bale) takes refuge in a Catholic church during the 1937 Nanking Massacre (also known as the Rape of Nanking), he finds himself responsible for the safety of a group of schoolgirls and several prostitutes, as he tries to lead them to safety and away from the invading Japanese army. Two lifelong friends (Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt) decide to have a child together and share custody, thinking that they can avoid the complications of married life. Salmon Fishing in the Yemen [2012] [PG-13] - 6.5.5
When a Scottish fisheries expert (Ewan McGregor) is hired as a consultant to help a Sheik bring his beloved fly-fishing to the desert, he is paired with a management consultant (Emily Blunt) and the two embark on their improbable mission together. The Three Stooges [2012] [PG] - 2.4.2
Based on the TV series: Three friends, Larry, Curly and Moe, start their relationship as toddlers in an orphanage and remain together, living and working until they learn one day that the orphanage will close unless they can raise $830,000. They head to the big city where they hope to save the day and are convinced to help a woman kill her husband for exactly the amount that they need. Adapted from a 1952 play by Terence Rattigan: Rachel Weisz stars as a woman who falls for a handsome RAF pilot and recent veteran of WWII and leaves her passionless marriage to a much older high court judge for him. After she attempts to kill herself, she experiences a series of flashbacks from events that had drastically changed her life. Also with Tom Hiddleston and Simon Russell Beale. Silent House [2011] [R] - 4.6.5
A twenty-something woman (Elizabeth Olsen) visits her family's abandoned lake house with her father (Adam Trese) in order to prepare it for sale. Dark and eerie, the house is home to strange events, apparitions, and secrets. Sealed into the shadowy house alone, she faces unexpected enemies in terror.
