Satire with Aaron Eckhart as a lobbyist for Big Tobacco, who makes his living convincing people that smoking is not really bad -- while trying to remain a role model for his twelve-year-old son. X-Men: The Last Stand [2006] [PG-13] - 4.6.3
The third film in the series revolves around a cure for mutancy that threatens to wipe out the X-Men, since now mutants have a choice: they can retain their unique abilities that make them both envied and despised, or become unremarkable humans. Mutant leaders Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen), who hold fundamentally opposing perspectives on X-Men evolution, are thus poised for another confrontation. In the second installment of Jim Davis' comic strip as movie, Garfield follows his owner Jon to England. There, Garfield is mistaken for a noble cat that has inherited a castle. Enjoying the royal treatment, Garfield must also protect the castle from Lord Dargis who wants to turn it into a resort. John Malkovich stars as an art professor, and Max Minghella as an aspiring art student attending a prestigious art school. When he arrives he is full of hope and anticipation and has aspirations of becoming the greatest artist in the world. His dreams are soon dashed when he sees another student with seemingly no talent attracting a great deal of attention. A fictionalized version of Garrison Keillor's popular radio show, with on-stage skits and behind-the-scenes sequences on what is supposed to be the final performance -- after 32 years the company that owns the theater has decided to tear it down and cancel the show. With Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones, Garrison Keillor, Kevin Kline and Lindsay Lohan. Directed by Robert Altman. [1:45]

Tyrese Gibson is a single father who's been in trouble with the law and so when he is carjacked and his son is kidnapped, he can't risk going to the police. With no one to trust, he tracks the kidnappers himself, enlisting the help of the sultry woman (Meagan Good) who may have set him up. Also with Larenz Tate, The Game, and H. Hunter Hall. Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn star as lovers who share their jointly owned condominium. When they break up after a family dinner, neither wants to move out so they try to figure out -- with a lot of advice on tactics and strategy from friends -- if it's possible to live as hostile roommates. Over the Hedge [2006] [PG] - 2.3.2
A hedge becomes the gateway to a strange world for a few woodland friends: After waking up from their long winter's nap, several animals discover that a tall, green thing has suddenly appeared in the middle of their home. A raccoon (Bruce Willis provides the voice) explains that in the world beyond creatures called humans live, and they have tons of food. Also with the voices of Garry Shandling, Steve Carell, William Shatner and Avril Lavigne. Directed by Tim Johnson & Karey Kirkpatrick. [1:36]

The Omen [2006] [R] - 1.8.5
After suffering the death of their baby during childbirth, a husband (Liev Schreiber) is convinced to take another infant born on the same day, and whose mother died during childbirth. As the boy grows older, it becomes clear to the wife (Julia Stiles) that there is something unusual about him. As people question who he is and why he is different they begin to die in gruesome ways, with the help of his nanny (Mia Farrow). Also with David Thewlis and Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick. American Dreamz [2006] [PG-13] - 4.4.5
A political satire that also takes on "American Idol": A popular talent show is hosted by a sleazy presenter (Hugh Grant) who chooses contestants for particular oddities -- such as a southern girl (Mandy Moore) whose boyfriend (Chris Klein) is a wounded Iraq war veteran, an Iraqi terrorist (Sam Golzari) whose only wish is to sing show tunes, and a Jewish rapper (Adam Busch). Into this mix steps the U.S. President (Dennis Quaid) as a guest judge -- depicted as a totally uninformed and disinterested figurehead, he is only interested in improving his ratings. Monster House [2006] [PG] - 3.6.1
Animated horror film about a house that's really a monster: When a neighborhood boy fears that he may have killed the old man who was the house's only resident, he realizes that the house is alive and very angry -- its beams become sharpened teeth, its windows blaze yellow and its entry rug becomes a long tongue that grabs and pulls everything that comes close, including animals and people, through the front door. However, nobody will believe him. With the voices of Steve Buscemi, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jon Heder, Kevin James and Jason Lee. Directed by Gil Kenan. [1:31]

Nacho Libre [2006] [PG] - 3.4.3
Jack Black stars as a friar who's the cook for a monastery. However, his food usually tastes terrible, and he dreams of becoming a successful professional wrestler, so he can make money with which he can buy better ingredients and produce better food for the orphans who live in the monastery. The small town of Wheelsy, S.C. is getting ready for the deer hunting season, when an asteroid crashes close to the town and an alien plague begins to spread, infecting one person after another: Footlong slugs enter people's bodies and transform them into zombie-like, flesh-eating creatures. With Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks, Michael Rooker, Gregg Henry and Brenda James. Directed by James Gunn. [1:34]

Mission: Impossible III [2006] [PG-13] - 5.7.4
Tom Cruise reprises his role as Ethan Hunt, super-agent for the Impossible Missions Force, in the third outing of the action series: While preparing to get married, Hunt is asked for help in retrieving a captured agent who's one of the people he trained. Eventually he has to defeat an international black market trafficker of weapons (Philip Seymour Hoffman) who has no scruples and does not feel remorse. Also with Ving Rhames, Billy Crudup and Michelle Monaghan. Directed by J.J. Abrams. [2:06]
