ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

Kevin Costner stars in another film about the famous lawman
to hit the big screen.
SEX/NUDITY 4 - There are several implied sex scenes, and a few passionate
kissing scenes. One has a man and woman in bed, and both are clearly nude (although only
their shoulders are seen); during another, a side view of a woman's breast is visible; and
another woman's breast is seen briefly through wet cotton; a topless woman is clearly seen
in a photo. And there is some talk of prostitutes and several sexual innuendoes.
VIOLENCE/GORE 7 - There are many bloody gun fights, most ending in death for
humans and animals. Many of the death scenes are long, painful and bloody. A man is shot
in the groin, bleeds profusely and groans before dying; a number of men are shot while
chasing a stagecoach -- a horse is shot down too; buffaloes are shown bloody and skinned;
two men are shot in the gut and die a long, bloody death; several men are shot in the arms
and legs, and are shown bloody; A man is hit in his adam's apple with a pool ball; and a
few fistfights end in some facial blood.
PROFANITY 5 - One F-word, a number of mild profanities, some sexual
innuendoes, and some scatological references. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Law enforcement, murder, prostitution, revenge.
MESSAGE - Nothing is more important than family.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
