Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
VIOLENCE/GORE 9 - There's a bloody massacre and many people are killed in
different ways: shards of glass kill, people are on fire, and statues come to life and go
on a killing spree, some men are shot many times. A creature erupts from a man's abdomen
and another from a man's mouth. A man spits up blood, his face and chest split open and
his bloody skeleton comes out of his body; a man's skin begins to bubble into bloody
welts; a man's jaw is ripped from his face; a man shoots his own brains out; a man is
decapitated and we see the bloody head fall. Several scenes of partially dissected
corpses. A man removes a face from a corpse leaving a bloody pulp. Some scenes with
particularly gory and gross looking beings. A man is very bloody after an explosion.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
