ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

British film about a Pakistani living in London who tries
to set up a country-and- western band. With Naveen Andrews and Sarita Choudhury.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - There is one sex scene. The couple is shown kissing and the
man strokes the girl's thighs and covered breasts. The characters remain clothed.
VIOLENCE/GORE 4 - A house is blown up. A fight breaks out on stage during a
performance: guitars are smashed over people's heads, etc. There is a scene in which a
husband strikes his wife. A man is punched in the face twice. There is a running gag about
a dog who keeps chasing and biting off parts of one of the bad guys. We see an ear and a
finger, and they look very real and gross. Another running gag involves two boys seen in
the background holding up various establishments. They are wearing stockings over their
heads and carrying automatic weapons.
PROFANITY 5 - The F-word is used about a half a dozen times, as well as
several scatological terms. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Theft, dishonesty, spousal abuse, racism, greed.
MESSAGE - Follow your heart and you just may succeed.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
