A high school counselor (Matt Dillon) is accused of rape by sexually provocative teens (Neve Campbell and Denise Richards) teens and a detective (Kevin Bacon) investigates.

SEX/NUDITY 9 - There's a brief scene of Bacon coming out of the shower fully frontally nude. Discussions of sex crimes. A woman exposes some cleavage in a bikini. Two women are shown in water-soaked and clinging clothing. A sex scene which is full of sounds, movement and shows the woman's bare breasts and buttocks. Sexual innuendo and discussions of sex acts, including a graphic description of a rape. Oral sex is implied. Two women and a man are shown in an extended and explicit three-way sex scene: bare buttocks and breasts are seen, and there's lots of passionate kissing. A woman's breasts are seen through her wet bathing suit. Two women kiss and begin to undress each other.

VIOLENCE/GORE 7 - A man is punched repeatedly and we see his bloody head. Objects are thrown at people. A woman is shoved into a wall. Two women slap and hit each other. A woman's head is held under water. A person is killed by being pummeled with a bottle - we see blood spewing. A person is shot in the shoulder and we see the resulting bloody wound. A person is shot with a spear gun. A person is killed by poisoning. A person is shot and killed and we see the bloody bullet holes. A car drives off a road and into a swamp. A bloody body is wrapped in plastic. A person extracts a tooth with pliers. A man is accused of rape.

PROFANITY 8 - About 35 F-words, many scatological terms, anatomical and sexual references, many derogatory terms, insults and mild obscenities, a profane hand gesture. [profanity glossary]

DISCUSSION TOPICS - Doublecrosses, criminal activity, false accusations, sex crimes and molestation.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. INAPPROPRIATE ADS? We have little control over ads since we belong to ad agencies that serve ads automatically; a standing order should prevent provocative ads, but inappropriate ads do sneak in.
