Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
Ed Lover and Dr. Dre from MTV's "Yo MTV Raps"
star as two barbers who reluctantly join the police force and find themselves fighting a
powerful and corrupt developer in this rap-heavy comedy. Parents concerned about rap
lyrics should proceed with caution.
SEX/NUDITY 0 - None. Lots of talk about sex but there are no sex scenes and
no nudity.
VIOLENCE/GORE 5 - Two bodies -- one is blown up in an explosion, but before
the explosion we see the character lying in a pool of blood. Another character is found
shot to death, covered with blood. Some fist fights and gun waving. A few houses are
deliberately set on fire.

PROFANITY 8 - Lots and lots. The F-word is used several times and rather
than coming from the mouths of rappers, it mostly comes from a character who plays a
police sergeant. A number of other assorted profanities, from the scatological to the
anatomical and sexual. "Pig" is used a few times for cop. [profanity glossary]
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
