Sequel to "Weekend At Bernie's," with the same
premise: Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman have to pretend that the late Bernie Lomax
is still alive, since they need him to get to a box containing two million dollars.
SEX/NUDITY 2 - Lots of scanty bathing suits during the beach scenes. One
super-brief moment of toplessness in a bikini top-snatching gag. One character runs into
the street in his underwear.
VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - Lots of slapstick humor, and plenty of things happen to
Bernie that would be considered quite violent, if he were not already dead, such as a
spear through the head. One character is forced to drink poison, but gets an antidote
later.
PROFANITY 2 - A vulgar reference to the female anatomy; some name calling
and sexual references. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Voodoo, the supernatural, death.
MESSAGE - Don't look for a message in this film.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
