Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
A boy is transported into another world where he helps
fight evil with the powers of good -- who use the natural elements in their battle.
SEX/NUDITY 1 - Cleavage.
VIOLENCE/GORE 4 - Bloody claws impale a person. Beings are dropped into a
pit with sharp and spinning blades -- but escape. Many fight scenes with martial arts
fighting (kicks, twirls, punches, bodies thrown around) and sword-play. Some bloody noses,
lips and faces. A spear is thrown at a boy. Falls and chases. A boy falls into a
whirlpool.

PROFANITY 3 - A few scatological references and a couple of mild
obscenities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Peer pressure, bullying, disabilities, fantasy worlds, good
versus evil.
MESSAGE - Everyone is special. You must respect yourself and not let your
limits, real or imagined, rule you.
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
