A young man (Zac Efron) is overcome with grief after the death of his younger brother (Charlie Tahan) from a drunk driving accident. He puts his life on hold and he believes he plays catch with his deceased brother every night, keeping a promise they had made when he was alive. When a friend from high school (Amanda Crew) is caught in a bad storm, he must come to terms with his loss in order to allow for a new beginning. Also with Donal Logue, Kim Basinger and Ray Liotta. Based on the Scott Pilgrim comic series by Bryan Lee O'Malley, a young man (Michael Cera) falls in love with a young woman (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and would do anything necessary to win her love, including defeating all of her seven evil exes. A Christmas Carol [2009] [PG] - 1.3.3
Animated Disney remake of the Dickens classic: Ebenezer Scrooge (with the voice of Jim Carrey) is shown various stages of his life by ghosts that bring the miser's life and indifference to those who are less fortunate into perspective. Filmed in 3-D, it contains many scenes that show objects, people, etc. coming out of the screen and seemingly toward the audience; also many scenes create the feeling of a roller coaster ride as the audience seems to fly over landscapes and between buildings. M. Night Shyamalan's live-action film adaptation of the first season of the Japanese animation "Avatar: The Last Airbender," features an Avatar (Noah Ringer) who in this incarnation must protect the world from the domination of the Fire Nation as he masters his second of the four elemental nations. A successful writer (Julia Roberts) loses her way when she discovers that she is not happy in her marriage, but doesn't know what to do about it. When one of the mercenaries discovers a corrupt American (Eric Roberts) is the true cause of corruption in the country, their plans take a different twist. Based on the novel by Wendelin Van Draanen, it relates the story of two eighth graders (Madeline Carroll, Callan McAuliffe), who begin having feelings for one another. Tom Cruise stars as a secret agent, who suddenly realizes that he wasn't supposed to survive his last mission. A parody of the "Twilight" movie series follows the story line closely, with a young woman torn between her love for a vampire and her friendship with a werewolf.
