A man (Justin Timberlake) deep in debt for his Princeton university education gambles it all on an online poker game and loses. When he discovers that the system cheated him, he travels to Costa Rica to confront the man (Ben Affleck) responsible for his loss in order to get his money back. A seemingly well-adjusted restaurateur (Adam Scott) was caught up in the 15-year divorce proceedings of his parents and then discovered that he was the subject of a study about the children of divorce. A socialite (Cate Blanchett) suffers a series of losses, regrets and moral dilemmas that lead to mental confusion. Needing a fresh start, she moves from New York to San Francisco to join her struggling divorced sister (Sally Hawkins); her new boyfriend (Bobby Cannavale) and her sister's own new suitor (Peter Sarsgaard) along with the real world of work provide new regrets that are similar to the old ones. Based on true events: Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks) and his crew aboard the container ship MV Maersk Alabama are captured by Somalian pirates in April, 2009. The pirate leader (Barkhad Abdi) holds the captain hostage in a covered lifeboat for five days in an attempt to extort a huge ransom, until Navy SEALs arrive. With his good friend, a weather scientist (voiced by Anna Faris), they must return to combat the beasts, but also discover another enemy. Based on a true story about the relentless rivalry in the 1970s between two Formula One racecar stars, Britain's James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) and Austria's Niki Lauda (Daniel Bruhl).
