Nim (Abigail Breslin), is an 11-year-old girl that lives alone on a South Pacific island with her scientist father (Gerard Butler) after her mother was swallowed by a great blue whale. When her father goes away on a two-day expedition, a storm strands him at sea and Nim answers an email from her favorite author, who convinced that Nim is alone, injured, and being invaded by Buccaneer Cruise tourists tries to conquer her agoraphobia and is off to save Nim.
