August 1

The Shaggy Dog [2006] [PG] - 3.3.2
Tim Allen stars as a workaholic deputy DA who has little time for his family. When his animal rights activist teenage daughter brings home a dog from a lab that is testing new chemicals on animals, and which is the same lab that her father is representing in court, their relationship becomes even more strained. That's also when dad begins to feel a bit doggish and starts chasing cats through the neighborhood on all fours. Also with Kristin Davis, Danny Glover, Craig Kilborn and Robert Downey Jr. Directed by Brian Robbins. [1:38]

V for Vendetta [2006] [R] - 6.7.5
A future Britain shrouded in fear is run by a totalitarian government, headed by a chancellor (John Hurt) who controls all aspects of the inhabitants' lives and does not tolerate dissent. But a masked vigilante known only as "V" saves a young woman (Natalie Portman) from torture and tries to encourage a citizen revolt by blowing up the Old Bailey building and then threatening to blow up the House of Parliament as a symbol of defiance. Inside Man [2006] [R] - 4.6.10
Denzel Washington stars as a police detective and hostage negotiator assigned to the scene of a bank robbery, where the robber (Clive Owen) and his team are locked inside and holding hostages. In a cat-and-mouse game, the detective and the robber try to outwit each other. Jodie Foster co-stars as a representative of the bank, whose mission is to ensure that items in safety deposit boxes are not made public. Also with Willem Dafoe and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector [2006] [PG-13] - 4.4.5
Comedian Larry the Cable Guy (a.k.a. Daniel Lawrence Whitney) stars as a health inspector who's usual turf is inexpensive diners. Called to help solve a string of food poisonings taking place at the most expensive restaurants, just before a prestigious chefs' competition, he manages to wreak predictable havoc. Also with Joe Pantoliano, Joanna Cassidy, Iris Bahr and Megyn Price. Directed by Trent Cooper. [1:39]

Scary Movie 4 [2006] [PG-13] - 6.7.5
As is the case with the first three "Scary Movie" installments, the 4th looks at notable movies and pokes fun at them in extreme fashion. Not all of the jokes are made at the expense of horror movies though; some include political responses to real life events, as well as movies like "Brokeback Mountain" and "Million Dollar Baby." With Anna Faris, Molly Shannon, Regina Hall, Craig Bierko and Leslie Nielsen. Directed by David Zucker. [1:23]

RV [2006] [PG] - 2.3.3
Robin Williams stars as a man who's been working too hard and hasn't been spending much time with his family. Ostensibly as an attempt to bring everybody together, he cancels their planned Hawaii vacation and instead rents an RV and takes them to Colorado -- where it just so happens he has to conduct a sales meeting or lose his job. Also with Cheryl Hines, Joanna 'JoJo' Levesque, Josh Hutcherson and Jeff Daniels. Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. [1:39]

Hoot [2006] [PG] - 1.4.4
A greedy restauranteur plans to build a restaurant on a piece of Florida land that is inhabited by endangered burrowing owls. A boy and his friends take on the owls' cause and are determined to protect the environment from land developers and crooked politicians. With Luke Wilson, Logan Lerman, Brie Larson, Tim Blake Nelson and Cody Linley. Directed by Wil Shriner. [1:30]

Silent Hill [2006] [R] - 5.10.5
A woman, desperate to unravel the mystery of her adopted daughter's recurring night terrors, takes her to an abandoned town in West Virginia where she finds herself trapped in an alternate dimension inhabited by strange beings. With Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean, Laurie Holden, Deborah Kara Unger and Kim Coates. Directed by Christophe Gans. [2:07]

Poseidon [2006] [PG-13] - 3.7.5
A remake of 1972's "The Poseidon Adventure," re-telling the story of a doomed cruise ship that is struck by a wave and capsizes, killing all but a handful of the passengers on board. The survivors find themselves fighting for their lives, and are led by a career gambler (Josh Lucas) who ignores the captain's orders to wait for a rescue. With Kurt Russell, Jacinda Barrett, Andre Braugher and Richard Dreyfuss. Directed by Wolfgang Petersen. [1:38]

Just My Luck [2006] [PG-13] - 4.4.4
Lindsey Lohan stars as a young woman who has been very lucky and successful all her life. One night however she transfers her luck to a young man (Chris Pine) she kisses at a costume party, and she's saddled with his rotten luck. Now she must find him and kiss him again before her charmed life becomes a complete mess. Also with Samaire Armstrong, Bree Turner and Faizon Love. Directed by Donald Petrie. [1:48]

Phat Girlz [2006] [PG-13] - 6.3.4
Mo'Nique Imes stars as a woman who has become bitter over the years because of the humiliation that she suffered when being harassed and teased ceaselessly about being overweight. When she wins a trip to a resort and meets a Nigerian doctor who falls in love with her, she sabotages the relationship because she does not believe he's being genuine. Also with Godfrey Danchimah, Joyful M'Chelle Drake, Kendra C. Johnson, Jimmy Jean-Louis. Directed by Nnegest Likke. [1:39]

When Do We Eat? [2006] [R] - 6.3.5
Hoping to bring her dysfunctional family back together, a woman (Lesley Ann Warren) prepares a Kosher Seder meal. When the attendees begin to arrive it is clear that the evening may not play out exactly as she had hoped. Also with Ben Feldman, Michael Lerner, Mili Avital and Jack Klugman. Friends with Money [2006] [R] - 7.3.7
Jennifer Aniston, Catherine Keener, Frances McDormand and Joan Cusack star as four life-long friends living in the west coast and deal with the stress of life and relationships while trying to figure out what being happy really means. Also with Jason Isaacs and Scott Caan. Directed by Nicole Holofcener. [1:28]

The Sentinel [2006] [PG-13] - 4.6.4
Michael Douglas stars as a veteran Secret Service agent, who is suddenly suspected of being a mole when the President's life is threatened. Now he has to prove his innocence, protect the President, and at the same time elude his fellow agents who are determined to capture him, dead or alive. Also with Kiefer Sutherland, Kim Basinger, Eva Longoria, Martin Donovan and Paul Calderon Directed by Clark Johnson. [1:48]

Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World [2005] [PG-13] - 3.2.4
Directed by Albert Brooks, the story is about out-of-work comedian Albert Brooks (played by Brooks) who has a big house and a family that likes shopping. Summoned to Washington by a State Department committee that's studying people from different cultures around the world, he's dispatched to several predominately Islamic countries with a singular mission: to try and figure out what makes over 300 million Muslims laugh. Also with Sheetal Sheth, Jon Tenney, Fred Dalton Thompson and John Carroll Lynch. [1:38]

Take the Lead [2006] [PG-13] - 5.5.5
Antonio Banderas stars as a ballroom dance teacher who volunteers to help the "misfits" in an inner-city school by teaching them to do ballroom dancing during detention. His job is not easy initially since his lessons are considered a form of detention. But he convinces himself that the students are worth the effort, and he perseveres. Also with Rob Brown, Yaya DaCosta, Dante Basco and John Ortiz. Directed by Liz Friedlander. [1:48]
