ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|
Unlike the MPAA we do not assign one inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest, depending on quantity and context. |

Dennis Quaid and Kathleen Turner are intelligence agents
who take a hiatus from the CIA and decide to play house for awhile. But the government
coaxes the duo back into action.
SEX/NUDITY 2 - There are several scenes with Quaid and Turner hugging and
kissing before going to bed, with the implication that sex will occur. There's no nudity
(unless you count Quaid with his shirt off).
VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - There are several fist/kicking fights, and lots of guns
are flashed but rarely fired. One man is electrocuted and several people die as the result
of an explosion. One man is thrown into a large cement mixer, although we don't see him
die. A murdered man falls out of a tomb. All is done with a slapstick slant, and there is
no blood or gore.
PROFANITY 5 - One F-word, and a few milder profanities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Child endangerment and espionage.
MESSAGE - Good triumphs over evil.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
