Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
Jean-Claude Van Damme stars as a futuristic policeman who
uses time travel to protect the past from interference.
SEX/NUDITY 7 - One sex scene in which we see a man's naked derriere and
limbs, a woman's breast and bare limbs (their bodies are entwined). Several passionate
kisses. We see a woman fully frontally nude in a virtual reality sex scene.
VIOLENCE/GORE 7 - Many scenes of kicking and hitting with a variety of
instruments: guns, metal bars, wooden sticks, knives and axes. A man jumps out a window
and we see him smash into the roof of a car. A man's bloody face is shown after he is
kicked and beaten relentlessly. A man's very bloody nose is shown after it is shoved into
a window. A house blows up with a woman inside. Many people are shot to death, in the head
and other critical points. Two men are electrocuted. A man's arm is frozen and then it
breaks off. Two men are set on fire. A man melts into a blob of goo.

PROFANITY 6 - About a dozen F-words, and an assortment of scatological,
anatomical, milder profanities and insults. [profanity glossary]
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
