Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
Timothy Hutton and Lara Flynn Boyle star in a thriller
about a temp that wants to make it to the top of the corporate world -- and will do
anything to reach her goal, even if that includes murder.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - There are a few sexual comments, and we see Boyle dressed in
a negligee (all that is apparent is cleavage). Boyle is briefly glimpsed lying on a bed in
a darkened room, while writhing and groaning. Masturbation is suggested.
VIOLENCE/GORE 7 - A man gets his hand caught in a shredder and we see a
great deal of blood spray his face, a dead man's splotched, discolored face is shown, a
corpse is shown hanging, two people eat cookies and bleed from the mouth -- with one
person briefly spewing blood on the other -- a security guard is shown with a knife in his
bloody chest, two fistfights with no blood, two people are hit in the head with a steel
pipe resulting in blood, and a woman falls to her death, but no blood is shown.

PROFANITY 5 - Eight F-words, and other more minor obscenities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Murder, marital separation, using sex to get ahead at work,
deceit and betrayal.
MESSAGE - The corporate world is dog eat dog and some people will do
anything to get ahead. The good guy does win in the end.
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
