Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
A British spy (Pierce Brosnan) finds himself in Panama and
proceeds to convince a famous tailor (Geoffrey Rush) to do some spying himself on local
political endeavors. Also with Jamie Lee Curtis, Leonor Varela, Brendan Gleeson, Harold
Pinter and Catherine McCormack. [1:49]
SEX/NUDITY 9 - A few instances of sexual innuendo, including references to
oral sex and homosexuality. A man and woman are lying in bed and we see the woman's bare
breasts. In an extended scene, we see a pornographic video of what appears to be only a
woman's bare buttocks and breasts, and we then see it's a threesome with two completely
naked women and a completely naked man (genitals aren't visible but everything else is);
several times we see the three of them kissing each other and moving around on one
another, with several shots of breasts and chests and buttocks. We repeatedly see the bare
backside of a woman straddling a man and humping him numerous times. We see a man on top
of a woman having sex with him and we see her bare breasts. A man kisses the back of a
woman's neck; we later see the two having sex with the woman straddling the man and then
watch (and hear) the two of them climax. A man puts his hand inside a woman's dress and we
see her bare breasts as he's rubbing them. We see part of a transvestite's buttocks. Two
men dance together and we see a few gay couples kissing and dancing.
VIOLENCE/GORE 6 - Threatening with guns and shots fired. We see video
footage of bombs dropping, causing big explosions. A woman is badly beaten with sticks and
we see blood all over her face, clothes and hands; we see a few shots of a man being
beaten as well. A man throws a woman on a bed and pins her down. A woman slaps a man; a
man slaps a woman. A woman bites a man on the lips, causing the man to have a bloody lip.
A man has a few cuts on his face. A woman has a permanently scarred face. A man commits
suicide offscreen. A car crashes into another car. We see a man urinate.

PROFANITY 8 - About 30 F-words, several anatomical and scatological
references, some mild obscenities, several religious profanities. [profanity glossary]
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
