Tom Berenger and Billy Zane star as Marine snipers whose
mission is to travel through the jungle in order to locate and eliminate a Panamanian
rebel who's planning a military coup d'etat.
SEX/NUDITY 0 - The only thing -- and this is stretching it -- is a couple
embracing, seen briefly through a window.
VIOLENCE/GORE 8 - It's all shooting, shooting, shooting, with plenty of
blood and a few sadistic tricks thrown in: A chopper is attacked and a few men get hit;
one is hit in the throat and starts spurting blood everywhere. A priest is discovered dead
in his chair with a very bloody eye -- presumably where the bullet struck. A man is killed
when a bullet goes through his own rifle's scope and into his eye. A knife goes through a
man's foot. One man is tortured with a corkscrew device applied to his trigger finger. A
man is stabbed through a thatch wall, and the knife is pulled down the length of his back.
PROFANITY 7 - Every swear word is in here, some more than once (such as
versions of the F-word). [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Cold-blooded murder and political assassination as government
policy. Drug running.
MESSAGE - Even extreme violence can be justified as the means to a noble
end.
