Unlike the MPAA we do not assign one inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest, depending on quantity and context.
Nicolas Cage and Gary Sinise investigate a political
assassination which took place during a boxing bout.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - Some kissing scenes and sexual innuendo. Several scantily
clad women are seen, a woman is shown in a bra, and a woman is seen in a bra and panties
as a man buries his face in her clothed crotch. A man squeezes a woman's clothed buttocks.
A man unzips his pants in preparation for oral sex.
VIOLENCE/GORE 7 - An assassination takes place; we see blood spurting from
the gunshot wound to the throat and the blood splatters a couple of bystanders (this scene
is shown a few times throughout the film). Two people are shot and killed; one has bloody
hands and torso and lies in a puddle of blood. A man is shot and killed leaving a bloody
face. A woman is shot in the arm and a woman is seen twice with a bloody arm and bandage.
A man spits blood on another's chest and a man shoots himself in the chest leaving a
small, bloody wound. A man has very bloody hands. Bloody gloves, a bloody note and bloody
money are seen a few times. A few boxing scenes, and a few fight scenes: a man kicks and
punches another man, and a man beats up another man resulting in a bloody mouth, a bloody
face, and a bloody, swollen eye. Several scuffles, falls, chases and rioting.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
