ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|
Unlike the MPAA we do not assign one inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest, depending on quantity and context. |

David Schwimmer, Lara Flynn Boyle, Teri Hatcher, Joey
Slotnick, Philip Rayburn Smith, Heidi Stillman, David Catlin, Thom Cox, Laura Eason and
Joy Gregory attend their 10-year high school reunion to see old friends and find new
loves.
SEX/NUDITY 5 - Lots of sexual innuendo. Some passionate kissing (in one
scene, we see many couples kissing in an auditorium). While a man and woman kiss
passionately in a car, the man unzips the woman's dress and in the next scene we see her
wearing only a bra and panties. A woman pours sugar on a man's bare stomach and chest and
licks it off. A man ties a woman's wrists to a Jeep's crossbar and they have intercourse
with movement (we see her bare back). We also see them having intercourse with sound and
movement against a car: the man's hands are covering the woman's bare breasts; we see
their bare shoulders and arms, and in the next scene we see their bare legs sticking out
of the car. Several women wear cleavage-revealing dresses.
VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - A woman threatens to kill another. Two people spit on a
man who's bound to a chair and gagged. Two scenes take place in the men's bathroom; we see
and hear men urinating and zipping up their pants. We see a woman sitting on a toilet. A
scuffle.
PROFANITY 8 - About 25 F-words, many anatomical references, many
scatological references and many mild obscenities and insults. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - High school reunions, homosexuality, failure, feeling
insecure, lying, competition, psychotic behavior.
MESSAGE - Most of us don't change much at all from our high school days.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
