Demi Moore and Gary Oldman star in this free adaptation of the Nathaniel Hawthorne classic.

SEX/NUDITY 7 - Brief full frontal male nudity. Two women's buttocks and breasts are seen. A woman in a bath appears to be getting ready to satisfy herself with a candle. A man's buttocks are seen several times. Some kissing. A sex scene contains kissing and thrusting. Some sexual references.

VIOLENCE/GORE 5 - Yelling and rioting scenes. A woman slaps a man who forces a kiss on her. Indians attack in a couple of scenes and we see arrows, scalping, and knifing (brief and not very bloody). A couple of arrows go through throats and cheeks (this scene is bloody). A man tries to rape a woman and she fights him. A slave's bloody, mutilated body is found. A man is attacked and killed and we see his bloody, mutilated body and his bloody scalp. A man's hanged corpse is found.
