A New Jersey high school boy with a speech impediment is recruited to be a debate team member by a classmate, with whom he quickly becomes infatuated. Initially thrilled, he's determined to get rid of his stutter, but soon realizes that he may be but a cog in an ambitious plot to win the state debate championship. SEX/NUDITY 7 - A teenage boy lies in bed in his room and hears his mother having sex with her boyfriend in the next room: we hear moaning, giggling and muffled conversation and we hear a muffled remark by the man stating, "use your finger."
 Two teenage boys look at a Kama Sutra book with drawings of a man and a woman in a variety of sexual positions, and the figures and positions are visible, including depictions of genitalia and penetration; one boy says that he tried one position on his dog.
 A teenage boy and a teenage girl kiss and grope each other and he kisses her neck (they are both clothed and in a public place). A teenage boy and a teenage girl kiss and he caresses her clothed thigh. A teenage boy and teenage girl make out in an auditorium: they are clothed and there are other people in the room who don't seem to notice them. A teenage boy and a teenage girl kiss in a library and he caresses her (the scene ends here). A teenage boy and a teenage girl kiss in a janitor's closet.

 A man wearing jockey shorts and a T-shirt sits on a sofa and the outline of his penis is visible. A teenage boy sits in a bathtub (we see his bare shoulders) and a teenage boy showers (his bare chest and shoulders are visible). A teenage boy pulls a bra out from under his bed and begins to put it on, over his clothes. Teenage girls wear low-cut tops that reveal cleavage in several scenes. A teenage boy looks at a calendar that features a bare-chested man.
 A man massages a woman's bare leg while they play a game with other family members.
 A teenage boy asks a woman to give a teenage girl the message that he has "finished with masturbation and is ready to show her." A teenage girl asks a teenage boy how far he got with another girl, inquiring, "Groping through the shirt?" A teenage girl complains that a man stole her locket because he is a pedophile and he'd use the picture of her that was inside for sexual purposes. A teenage boy identifies himself as a teenage girl's ex-lover. A teenage boy debates about "sexual dysfunction." Teenage boys talk about the "next level" in sexual terms and talk about oral sex. A teenage boy tells a teenage girl that no one would ever think of her in sexual terms. A teenager suggests organizing a "concert for sexlessness." A teenage boy asks another teenage boy if he thinks a teenage girl wears a bra.
 Two teenage boys watch a house across the street where a teenage girl lives.

VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - A teenage boy pushes and berates his younger brother and threatens him with gory descriptive terms, such as stating that he will reach in his eye sockets and pull out his pancreas, etc. A teenage boy pounds on a door and threatens his younger brother.
 A husband and wife argue bitterly and the man takes some of his belongings and moves out. A man and a woman argue and he says, "You are so messed up." A teenage girl complains that a man stole her locket because he is a pedophile and he'd use the picture of her inside for sexual purposes.
 A boy throws a cello at a house and breaks a window. A boy throws a statue in anger (nothing breaks). A boy screams in frustration when he stutters cannot speak effectively.
 Two teenage brothers argue in several scenes. A teenager asks another teenager if he has ever felt like "burning the world down." A teenage girl refers to a boy with a speech impediment as "deformed."
 Two teenage boys watch a house across the street where a teenage girl lives. Two teenage boys play fight with cap guns and bows and arrows (no one is harmed).
 A teenage girl has a bloody nose (not from a violent act) and we see blood on a tissue. A character refers to Irritable Bowel Syndrome. A teenage boy gags and coughs into a bathroom sink (presumably he is vomiting).
 A man knocks into and tips over garbage cans while backing his car out of a driveway in a couple of scenes.

PROFANITY 5 - 1 F-word, a character says "mother-effing" twice, a character says "F," 5 obscene hand gestures, 13 sexual references, 6 scatological terms, 1 anatomical term, mild obscenities, name-calling (stupid), 1 religious profanity, 1 religious exclamation. [profanity glossary]

SUBSTANCE USE - A teenage boy drinks alcohol from a bottle and seems inebriated, a man drinks a glass of wine with dinner, and a woman drinks a beer. Teenage girls smoke cigarettes.
