ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

Animated feature about a hick rooster, who when pursued by
an evil owl, he flies the coop and moves to the big city where an unscrupulous promoter
bills him as "The King" and makes him a sensation.
SEX/NUDITY 0 - None, really. Some provocatively dressed cartoon dancers at a
Las Vegas night club. One romantic scene between the rooster and his sweetie, is just bird
pecks and serenading.
VIOLENCE 2 - A boy, who's the young hero, is turned into a kitty by the evil
owl. Chanticleer, the rooster, is caught in a fight with a brute sent by the evil owl, and
ends up getting knocked around. The nephew of the owl makes several cartoon attempts on
the lives of the rooster's friends.
PROFANITY 0 - None. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Ambition, show business, leaving home, Elvis.
MESSAGE - Home is where the heart is. Friends should stand by friends. Good
will win over evil. An inadvertent message may be that owls are evil, while farm animals
are good.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
