ASSIGNED NUMBERS |

Malaysia and spend time in prison in order to help their jailed friend avoid execution.
With Vince Vaughn, Anne Heche, Joaquin Phoenix and David Conrad.
SEX/NUDITY 4 - Sexual innuendo and some kissing scenes (sometimes
passionately in make-out scenes). A woman is shown in her bra and panties and g-string
clad female buttocks are seen in a strip club; we also see the sides of female bare
breasts a few times. A naked man is seen in shadow. A couple kiss, the man caresses a
barely clothed breast and the woman gets on top of the man with some thrusting. And a
couple kiss while naked in a tub; he briefly caresses her breasts.
VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - A man is hanged until he's dead. A knife is held to a
person's throat. A trio on a bike are nearly hit by a bus and wipe-out. Several scuffles.
PROFANITY 8 - About 50 F-words, many scatological references and mild
obscenities, some anatomical references. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Foreign court systems, capital punishment, friendship,
sacrifice, impossible dilemmas, guilt.
MESSAGE - Sometimes life does not offer easy or good choices.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
