Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
Mel Gibson turns the table on his son's kidnappers when he
offers the ransom money as a bounty on the kidnappers' head.
SEX/NUDITY 2 - Kissing, a man and woman kiss in bed and he s naked (we see a
brief glimpse of his behind as he climbs into bed).
VIOLENCE/GORE 8 - Scuffles, stalkings, chases, reckless driving. Fights and
a couple vicious beatings with blood and bruises on face and neck. Some people are shot
with a lot of blood. Many spurting, gushing wounds, a lot of blood smeared across faces,
necks and on clothing. Bloody corpses with some puddles of blood, a corpse has a leg
twisted at a broken angle. A boy has scratches, bruises and a little blood on his leg and
face. Threatening with guns, a fight in traffic has people hit by cars.

PROFANITY 7 - 25+ F-words, many scatological references, some mild
obscenities and some anatomical references. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Kidnapping and paying a ransom, wealth, law enforcement,
marital and parental relationships.
MESSAGE - It's better to call the shots and be in control even when it's
painful.
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
