An idealistic young attorney fights the case of his life
against a corrupt insurance company.
SEX/NUDITY 0 - None.
VIOLENCE/GORE 5 - Most of the violence is implied and never explicitly
shown. A woman who's been beaten by her husband is shown with severe facial bruises and
welts on her back. Two men fight and throw each other into glass objects; the attacking
man wields a baseball bat. There is some blood and a few facial cuts. One man hits the
other in the head with a bat (off screen), with splattered blood on the wall and window. A
woman beats a man to death with a bat (off screen, but heard).
PROFANITY 2 - A few mild profanities and anatomical references. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Poverty, cancer, ethics, domestic violence, the legal system.
MESSAGE - Sometimes, against all odds, the good guys win.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
