ASSIGNED NUMBERS

Unlike the MPAA we do not assign one inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest, depending on quantity and context.

MPAA Rating: PG-13

A teenager is discovered to have quasi-supernatural powers and a small-town reacts with disbelief and revulsion.

SEX/NUDITY 3 - Some bare-chested men, a couple of kisses and a couple of sexual references. A man is naked in an extended scene, but all we see are his behind and chest.

VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - A woman is shown being struck by lightning. A man is threatened with a gun. A man is struck by electricity and his body shakes. Lightning causes a few boys to fall down. There are scenes where schoolboys taunt another boy, and he is yelled at and pushed around. We see a deer dying and there is a small, bloody hole on its chest. A man starts yelling and seems to have seizure.

PROFANITY 5 - One F-word, one variation on the F-word, some scatological references, some mild obscenities. [profanity glossary]

DISCUSSION TOPICS - Being an albino, abandonment, supernatural powers, distrust, small-town life.

MESSAGE - Our technology has outstripped our capacity to be humane. But, there is still hope.
