ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

Scene-for-scene remake of the French film "La Femme
Nikita," with Bridget Fonda as the young, amoral punk who becomes a professional
assassin for the government.
SEX/NUDITY 5 - Fonda is shown in her Calvin Klein underwear and there are a
couple of love scenes: only cleavage, shoulders and legs are visible. During one encounter
the lovers toy with each other by exchanging food, mouth to mouth. There are some women in
thongs, and a quick flash of a topless woman.
VIOLENCE/GORE 6 - About a dozen people are killed, mainly by being shot.
Some are killed at point-blank range and in cold blood. While the camera does not linger
on gore, there is one scene where an unconscious woman is burned with acid: we don't see
the result, but we do see her legs writhing in pain. One man is caught under a car and his
arm is held against the spinning tire. He eventually gets run over.
PROFANITY 6 - About 20 F-words, and other profanities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Political assassination as government policy, drugs,
pre-marital sex.
MESSAGE - Sometimes in life there are only bad choices. People can change
for the better.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
