ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

An English version of "The Big Chill" with
almost-middle-aged friends getting together for a weekend and comparing notes about life,
death, marriage, etc.
SEX/NUDITY 6 - One scene where a man and woman are making love while
standing in a train contains no nudity but is explicit nevertheless. Some female and male
nudity, and one fleeting sex scene where both partners are presumably entangled. Sexual
references abound.
VIOLENCE/GORE 1 - Only verbal tongue lashings but no physical violence.
PROFANITY 6 - Approximately 35 F-words, as well as assorted anatomical
references, scatological language and sexual references. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - AIDS, death, friendship, bisexuality, loneliness.
MESSAGE - Time changes everything. One has to go on with life even under
difficult circumstances.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
