The patriarch of a Pittsburgh family bites the dust and
leaves the onus of responsibility on the shoulders of his eldest, played by Bob Hoskins,
who's so stressed by his new status that he has his very own mid-life crisis.
SEX/NUDITY 2 - Implied extra-marital sex, sexual noises made from behind a
closed bedroom door.
VIOLENCE/GORE 1 - None. It is not violent but two of the family members take
the corps out of the coffin and move him to the bedroom in order to hide an illegal alien
in the coffin.
PROFANITY 5 - The F-word and scattered strong language. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Extra-marital affairs, infidelity, unwed mothers.
MESSAGE - Take charge and don't run away from your problems.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
