She then disappears and convinced that she has left him clues to her whereabouts, he takes a road trip hoping of finding her. SEX/NUDITY 4 - A shirtless teenage boy (we see his bare chest and abdomen) sitting on a bed is straddled by a shirtless teenage girl (we see her bare shoulders, back and bra) and they kiss (sex is implied). A teenage boy and a teenage girl lie on a blanket in the woods and kiss (sex is implied and the boy later tells his friends that he and the girl had sex). A nude teenage boy (we see his chest and buttocks as he holds his hands over his genitals) climbs through a basement window and runs across a lawn toward his car as another teen snaps his picture (sex is implied to have been taking place with a teenage girl that we do not see).
 A teenage boy falls asleep and imagines a teenage girl wearing a low-cut dress (cleavage is evident) and she kisses him. A teenage boy urinates in a toilet (we hear trickle and see the stream) when a teenage girl pulls back shower curtains to reveal her sitting in the tub (we see her bare knees, but she is clothed); when he finishes urinating the girl asks him to join her in the tub and he does (they sit and talk and hug).
 A teenage boy is shown wearing boxers and a T-shirt as he climbs into bed and he removes his T-shirt to show his bare chest. A teenage girl climbs through a teenage boy's bedroom window and he wakes up in a start, gets out of bed wearing his boxers and puts on his T-shirt (we see his bare chest and legs to the mid-thighs). A teenage girl wears a crop top that reveals her bare abdomen. A pre-teen girl wears shorts. A teenage boy is shown wearing boxer briefs (his bare chest and abdomen are seen). A teenage girl wears a tank top that reveals cleavage. A teenage boy's shirt hangs open and reveals his bare chest and abdomen. A teenage girl wears a low-cut top that reveals cleavage. Teenage boys tease another teenage boy about his claims of having had sex with teenage girls in several scenes. A teenage girl calls a man late at night and tells him that his daughter is having sex in their basement. A teenage girl describes a teenage boy's genitals as being small. A teenage boy asks his friend if he "hooked up" with a teenage girl and is disappointed when the answer is no. A teenage boy takes another teenage boy's glasses off and moves toward him as if to kiss him while saying, "I want to be with you," (he appears to be joking). A teenage girl says that another teenage girl told everyone that she had an STI. A teen boy talks about him and his girlfriend waiting to have sex until prom because they "want it to be special."

VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - A man is shown slumped against a tree with blood on his shirt and a pre-teen girl investigates and declares the man dead. A man with a shotgun shoots at a teenage boy and a teenage girl as they run away from his house.
 Several teens in a mini-van swerve to avoid a cow in the road; the car spins several times and one teen boy is shown with a bloody cut on his eyebrow. A pre-teen girl is seen climbing on the roof of a house and down a tree in a couple of scenes. A teen girl is shown climbing in and out of her bedroom window and up and down a tree in a couple of scenes. Three teenage boys skip school and go to an abandoned store looking for clues to find a teenage girl; they crawl through a dark hole in a wall that is labeled "Troll Hole." A teenage boy goes to an abandoned store alone at night and falls asleep inside. A teenage boy screams when he hears a noise in an abandoned store. A teenage boy stays alone at a deserted spot hoping to find someone.
 A teenage boy and a teenage girl prank a few people: a fish is left in a girl's closet, a girl's car is Saran-wrapped, and a teen boy's eyebrow is removed with Nair. A teenage boy and a teenage girl speed out of a driveway on a minivan late at night. An African-American teen boy is given a T-shirt with a Confederate flag symbol on it and turns it inside out before putting it on.
 After drinking a lot of beer at a party a teen boy vomits into a vase and we see goo and hear him retch. A teenage boy complains that he has to urinate while in a car and uses two empty beer cans to empty his bladder (we hear the trickling); when he holds the cans up to shown them full, the car lurches and urine spills on another teenage boy who is disgusted. A teen girl talks about a teen boy having "puked himself."

LANGUAGE 4 - 1 obscene hand gesture, 7 sexual references, 5 scatological terms, 7 anatomical terms, 6 mild obscenities, name-calling (scumbag, whore), 1 religious profanity (GD), 4 religious exclamations (e.g. Jesus, Jesus Christ, Oh My God).

SUBSTANCE USE - Underage teen boys and underage teen girls are shown drinking alcohol at a house party and we see one boy chugging beer through a hose from a keg. A teen boy talks about having stolen some cigars and smoking them.

DISCUSSION TOPICS - Miracles, unlikely events, divorce, adventures, infidelity, sexually transmitted infections, love, soul-searching, fantasy, paper towns, friendship.

MESSAGE - Things are not always as they appear. It's not good to assume that other people are more than they are.
