ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|
Unlike the MPAA we do not assign one inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest, depending on quantity and context. |

Romantic comedy about three New Yorkers who share an
apartment, on different days; they get to know each other from what each one of them
leaves behind. With Kevin Anderson, Matthew Broderick and Annabella Sciorra.
SEX/NUDITY 5 - We see a naked man and woman, from behind. Only their
derrieres are visible. There are a couple of brief sex scenes, and, while no nudity is
visible, one scene involves leather underwear, masks and whips. Sex, infidelity and
promiscuity are treated very casually.
VIOLENCE/GORE 1 - A man pushes a woman down, she slaps him and he proceeds
to throw a drink in her face.
PROFANITY 6 - Some F-words and other lesser profanities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Promiscuity, infidelity, sexism.
MESSAGE - Eventually, true love will triumph.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
