Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
A DA tracks down corrupt cops -- and his father may be one
of them.
SEX/NUDITY 2 - A couple lie in bed and it's implied that they've just had
sex. Kissing. Sexual innuendo.
VIOLENCE/GORE 5 - A man is shot and there is blood on his body and a puddle
of blood on the floor. A man puts a gun in his mouth and fires (off-screen). A man is shot
and falls many feet to the ground, a few more people are shot (two killed) with one shot
in the head and some blood. A man is punched and pulled at by a group of men. A slap, a
couple of scuffles, chases, threatening with guns.

PROFANITY 8 - About 40 F-words, many scatological references, many
anatomical references, many mild obscenities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Corruption, law enforcement, father and son relationships,
ambition, betrayal.
MESSAGE - Sometimes the good guys become the bad guys.
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
