ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

Jodie Foster stars as a woman who has grown up in the woods
without any form of human contact except for her stroke-victim mother. Natasha Richardson
and Liam Neeson co-star.
SEX/NUDITY 5 - One passionate kiss between Richardson and Neeson. Neeson is
shown evidently naked -- no private areas are visible, though -- and Richardson is shown
in a see-through wet T-shirt and underpants. There are quick glimpses of Foster's breasts
and buttocks -- she dives off a rock into a lake, and lifts her dress up in a bar. Some
sexual innuendo and taunting.
VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - Foster kicks and screams at Neeson. A dead woman and a
skeleton are shown. Foster runs into a glass wall and gets a bloody lip.
PROFANITY 5 - One F-word, one scatological term and a few mild obscenities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Isolation and loneliness, abandonment, professionalism vs.
listening to your heart.
MESSAGE - You have to let each person live their own life -- even if it is
unconventional.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
