ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

Joe Pesci as an inexperienced Brooklyn lawyer in an Alabama
courtroom defending two New Yorkers charged with murder. Marisa Tomei co-stars.
SEX/NUDITY 1 - No explicit nudity, just an occasionally bra-less woman,
sometimes in mini-skirts, a black slip and a negligee.
VIOLENCE 3 - A glimpse of a body lying in a pool of blood, a punch.
PROFANITY 6 - Four-letter words abound, in impeccable Brooklynese. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Pre-marital sex, the "new" South, different
cultures, the legal system..
MESSAGE - The South is just different. Lies may be necessary under certain
circumstances.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
