Nick Nolte is a cop with three partners in this 1940's
murder mystery.
SEX/NUDITY 6 - Kissing, four sex scenes with bare breasts and half-covered
buttocks.
VIOLENCE/GORE 6 - A handful of fistfights with some blood on faces and
mouths as a result (billyclubbing too). A cancer ward has people with disfigured faces and
necks. A few very bloody corpses (a badly battered corpse has her arm almost come off when
picked up). A man dies of a bloody gunshot to the abdomen, a close-up of a man's arm being
broken.
PROFANITY 5 - About 4 F-words, a handful of scatological references, a few
mild obscenities and anatomical references. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Law enforcement, the military, nuclear testing, infidelity.
MESSAGE - Even national security doesn't excuse the death of innocents.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
