ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

Robin Wright Penn, Kevin Costner and Paul Newman star in
this drama about a woman's search for the writer of a love letter she accidentally found
in a floating bottle. Also with Illeana Douglas, Robbie Coltrane, Jesse James and John
Savage.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - Some sexual innuendo and kissing, sometimes passionately. A
woman takes her pants off and we see a bit of her underwear. We see an extended scene of a
man and woman kissing and moving in bed (we only see their faces and the upper part of
their bare backs).
VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - One brief fight (a few punches are thrown and a man is
slammed onto a table). Two people drown, but nothing graphic is seen.
PROFANITY 3 - Several anatomical and scatological references and many mild
obscenities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Death of a spouse, grief, honesty, divorce, falling in love,
letting go of the past.
MESSAGE - You can experience true love twice in a lifetime.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
