SEX/NUDITY 1 - A man and a woman kiss passionately for several seconds.
A woman tells a young man that his girlfriend no longer has a deadly virus because his blood contains antibodies, suggesting sexual transmission of the antibodies.
One scene features a young woman wearing an above-the knee skirt that is split up the front and left side to show legs up to the upper thigh.

VIOLENCE/GORE 5 - A young man points a handgun at a woman and drops it as a gunshot sounds off-screen and the camera zooms to the woman's back to show blood filling the upper part of her dress; we later see her open-eyed body on the floor with blood covering her chest.
A young man is trapped in a long dark building and a giant spider chases him; the young man screams and grunts as he becomes paralyzed and slams against the ceiling as the spider slams two sharp feet into the ceiling on either side of the young man's head and roars into the camera with several rows of sharp teeth showing and we then see the young man in a lab with electrodes on his head, still grunting and screaming.
A teen boy slowly becomes a zombie with thick purple veins lining his forearms and face, he develops a cough and spits out black and red blood, and lunges toward a young man; they scuffle and the zombie says, "Kill me!" as he grabs a gun and the other teen swats it out of his hand, and the zombie collapses several times as the other teen tries to help him walk; the zombie tries to stab the other young man, falls into his own knife, and dies with open eyes.
Three young men lock themselves into a lab and when police cut through the door, the young men jump through a shattering window and land in a large swimming pool; another young man with an electric rifle shoots three other armed men, killing two and leaving one cursing and convulsing in bolts of electricity. A doctor injects a young man with a sedative; the young man stabs the doctor in the arm with a short knife, drawing blood, and stabs the needle into the doctor's neck, causing unconsciousness.
Three teen boys with automatic rifles that fire electric charges and handguns fight off a series of soldiers in a high-rise building; several soldiers fall unconscious or dead, an older man fires a gun at a young man and a young woman and misses, a mortar with flames bursts through a window behind a man knocking him down (he gets up unharmed), the man and the young man fist fight and smash a large window loudly into bits, the man tosses the young woman into a table and glass beakers shatter all over the floor and he chokes her, and she hits him on the back of the head with a heavy glass beaker that breaks (he gets up unharmed); the young man and young woman escape to the roof where we see a four-inch wound and considerable blood on his stomach, arms, and hands as a drone plane arrives to rescue them and the young woman is knocked down by debris from two collapsing buildings and finally falls away from the camera into a cloud of debris (we do not hear her hit the ground); the wounded young man passes out and awakens in a bed with gauze around his abdomen and a spot of blood on the gauze.
A man and a teen girl in a jeep chase a train and two men in another jeep also chase it; the second two men jump onto the train and fend off soldiers firing automatic rifles, the two men blow apart the coupling on two train cars and separate a car carrying 50 captive teen boys and girls chained to their seats; several soldiers exit a drone plane and pursue the rescuers who escape, steal the drone and several soldiers fall on the roof of the train after being shot (no blood shows), and the teen girl picks up the separated rail car on a cable system and moves it to safety miles away.
Three teen boys fight off soldiers, firing electric charges at them and felling about a dozen officers that convulse in electric bolts, either unconscious or dead; the boys free over two dozen captive teenagers and put them onto a city bus until an SUV sideswipes the bus and lands on its roof and another SUV tumbles across the screen, flipping hood over trunk before it crashes loudly. Three young men drive a jeep into a tunnel to find wrecked cars as several zombies roar, limp, and charge them (the zombies have purple veins over their arms and faces, and red and black blood covering their faces and lips); a young man shoots and kills a zombie, several others attack the jeep, the jeep hits a rock and turns onto its roof (the three young men are unharmed) and they are picked up by a fast-moving jeep in which a young woman is standing and firing a handgun at zombies, killing several of them.
Two teen boys are kidnapped by another young man who is disguised as a soldier; one of the kidnapped teens fist fights with the third teen, punching him to the ground, but is stopped from more punching by the last teen boy. Two teen boys with guns kidnap a young woman and take her to a medical building where a man points a gun at them and dares the boys to shoot the young woman; she pushes the two boys into a decontamination cubicle and locks the door.
A teen girl holds a handgun to a man's head, but does not shoot. A man points a handgun at another man, but does not shoot and later points it at a young woman's head. A young man slams another young man into a wall and shouts, but lets him go. A young man slams a woman into a table top and shouts, "I'll kill you", and then leaves. A young man threatens to cut off a finger from a young woman, but does not do it.
Police chase a bus and block roads and the driver exits the bus and fires a flare into the sky; a crane lowers a huge chain and hook to pull the bus into the air, nose down and the crane pulls the bus through the city and the cable sparks and snaps, setting the bus onto its nose and people inside scream as the bus falls over to its wheels (no one is hurt).
A man shouts to a crowd of people who were exposed to a virus and they shout and march on a walled city following the man who stands up in a large jeep and rides into the closed gateway, which explodes the wall in huge flames and smoke after a loud boom; the crowd charges through streets as police fire laser charges at them, causing several small fires in the street as people run and scream and the firing continues with other officers firing mortars and other flashing bombs that land on buildings and streets and three tall buildings collapse in debris and flames.
A zombie in a lab slams itself against a glass wall and roars. A girl with zombie symptoms receives an injection where we see the needle enter the arm, and she becomes well temporarily. A female zombie becomes violent and is held down by police while she screams in bed. Two zombies break through a glass wall that crashes loudly and breaks, and charge at a man who escapes.
A man suffering from a zombie virus has heavy scarring on his hands and cheek, along with a missing nose and huge nostrils in its place; he also uses a cane and has an IV line running to his arm from a mobile stand. Many captive teens have pale faces and sunken eyes and a few have blackened eyes. A woman removes a computer chip from a young man's neck and we see a short wire and a little matter and blood; she carries away a blood-covered gauze piece and uses it later to make a serum. A woman draws a vial of blood from a man's arm and we see the needle leading under a gauze patch on the arm. We see a teen boy's face look dazed and we hear that too much blood is being drawn from him (we see only his face).
We hear that a virus is killing mankind and the blood of a few teenagers carry antibodies. We hear that doctors torture teens and take all their blood for a serum.
In several scenes in a medical high-rise, we hear loud sirens blaring; on the street outside, we see police SUVs cruising with loud sirens and lights flashing. A hundred teens and a few adults live in shacks at a bay area that is full of half-sunken ships and hundreds of grimy men and women live in dirt and squalor outside a rich walled city.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
