ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

Armand Assante stars in this story of two musician
brothers, who flee Cuba and head to New York City with dreams of making it big playing
mambo on the club circuit.
SEX/NUDITY 7 - There are three sex scenes - two with total nudity, and one
with partial. Interestingly, dance scenes are actually more sensual than the explicit
love-making scenes.
VIOLENCE 4 - One knife fight in which a character is cut on the throat (not
slit), and there's very little blood. Also a fatal car wreck, but there are no mangled
bodies.
PROFANITY 1 - Very little. No four letter words. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Premarital sex may raise some questions as well as
infidelity, and casual sex, as one character picks up a girl at a bar.
MESSAGE - Lying will bring tragedy, and spending too much time on the past
will hurt everyone around you.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
