ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

Holly Hunter is a lonely divorcee who must readjust to
single life in this romantic drama. Also with Danny DeVito and Queen Latifah.
SEX/NUDITY 6 - Sexual innuendo. Kissing (sometimes passionately); in one scene, we
see lesbians kissing. A few women wear cleavage-revealing tops. A man in underwear
massages a naked woman covered by a sheet: we see her bare buttocks and breasts, and
there's a brief shot of full frontal nudity; the woman touches the man's
buttocks underneath his underwear.
VIOLENCE/GORE 1 - A woman hits a man. We see a television report of a
suicide attempt (a woman jumps out of a window), but it's more humorous than
disturbing.
PROFANITY 6 - About 15 F-words, many anatomical references, some
scatological references and some mild obscenities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Divorce, being single and lonely, romance, drug use.
MESSAGE - There is life after a divorce.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
