ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|
Unlike the MPAA we do not assign one inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest, depending on quantity and context. |

Mel Gibson and Danny Glover reprise their roles as
mismatched L.A. detectives from the two previous installments of "Lethal
Weapon." The plot involves the selling of armor-piercing, cop-killer weapons to
teenage drug dealers.
SEX/NUDITY 2 - No nudity; some foreplay.
VIOLENCE/GORE 6 - Lots of shooting, of the "set 'em up and gun 'em
down" variety. Some blood, but more noise than gore. One guy is brutally drowned in
wet cement. Among the violence, there are only two killings that "affect" any of
the other characters in any emotional way.
PROFANITY 7 - The F-word makes a return appearance in this sequel. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Cop killing; drug dealing; organized crime.
MESSAGE - This is not a message film by any means, but teen drug dealing is
portrayed in a negative light, and the consequences of that activity are shown.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
