Unlike the MPAA we do not assign one inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest, depending on quantity and context.
Pierce Brosnan as a latter-day Dr. Frankenstein, whose
experiments with virtual reality backfire when applied to a retarded gardener.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - There's no explicit nudity, only one human sex scene taking
place under covers. However, there are scenes of virtual reality sex, with intertwining,
computer-generated images (not anatomically correct) which turns violent.
VIOLENCE/GORE 5 - Some gunfire and explosions, plus unusual scenes of
computer-generated violence, where victims apparently disintegrate into TV-screen dots.

PROFANITY 2 - No four-letter words, only mildly foul name calling. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - While less scary than a typical King movie, the idea of
computer-generated sex and violence may cast the old PC in a different light.
MESSAGE - The message is a warning about the uses of new technology. While
it can be used for good, it has an equal capacity to bring us closer to self-destruction.
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
