Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
Bruce Willis breezes into a Western town and plays two
gangs off each other.
SEX/NUDITY 4 - Sexual innuendo, kissing; a woman wears a sheer slip and we
can see her breasts, a brief glimpse of a man's buttocks. A man and woman are having sex
and we see thrusting as he's on top of her.
VIOLENCE/GORE 8 - Many shootouts with people dying and some blood. During
one shooting blood spurts out of a man's head. When people are shot their bodies jerk and
twist. A car is trashed while a man sits inside it, a building burns to the ground and a
couple of people run out engulfed in flames. A couple of vicious beatings with some blood
(kicking and pistol-whipping) and beaten up faces (dried blood, bruises, etc.). A beating
leaves a man with a bloody face and hands and for the rest of the film his face is
disfigured due to the beating (swollen eyes; swollen shut in some scenes, bruises, dried
blood, etc.). A woman shows the disfigured, bloody side of her head where her ear was cut
off. A woman's face is slapped.

PROFANITY 5 - One mumbled F-word, many mild obscenities, some scatological
references and some anatomical references. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Bootlegging, gangs, being a loner.
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
