In a time long ago, Kull the Conqueror (Kevin Sorbo) saves
the day.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - Bare chested men, scantily clad women (including deep
cleavages and breasts through gauzy material). A couple have sex in a couple of scenes
with kissing and moaning and caressing but no nudity except for bare backs and legs.
Sexual innuendo (including references to forced and unwanted sex and homosexuality).
VIOLENCE/GORE 6 - Many sword fights (with blood in some scenes), one with
flaming swords. Sometimes they result in death, we hear whacking sounds and some people
are run through). Kicks, punches, scuffles and choking. A bloody scratch is seen on a
person's head. Corpses are seen (including a mummified one, a skeletal one and some
drowned ones). A man is lashed (scars are seen on his back). A man's hand and face are
burned by contact with a woman and he screams. A man is hung by being pulled up by a
drawbridge. A woman is almost burned at the stake, a woman is thrown into flames and a man
is seen on fire; also, a woman touches a man's forehead and burns holes into it, then he
bursts into flames and falls down a cliff. A man breaks someone's neck and another's arm.
A woman is stabbed in the chest and she proceeds to pull the knife out.
PROFANITY 3 - A scatological reference, some mild obscenities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Evil, magic, ancient times.
MESSAGE - Good wins over evil.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
