ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

An adult, live-action version of Rudyard Kipling's classic.
SEX/NUDITY 1 - The main character is seen in a loin cloth in a few scenes.
But, he soon finds princely robes in a secret stash in the jungle and immediately puts
them on.
VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - About six dead bodies are shown. Some are shot and two are
mauled by a tiger. A man sinks in quicksand, while another is buried alive inside a crypt.
A woman is kidnapped and her father is shot. We do see some blood in one of the mauling
scenes and when a character is shot in the arm. A bear is also shot and bleeds a little.
PROFANITY 1 - Occasional mild cursing. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Kidnapping, disregard for animal life, greed.
MESSAGE - One must keep the law of the jungle: Kill only to eat or to keep
from being eaten. All other killing is unjust.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
