ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

"The Big Chill" for "twentysomethings,"
as assorted characters get together for a week at their old childhood summer camp and
start reminiscing. The cast: Alan Arkin, Julie Warner, Vincent Spano, Elizabeth Perkins,
Kevin Pollak, Kimberly Williams, Matt Craven, Bill Paxton, and Diane Lane.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - There are men and women in bathing suits and one woman
appears topless, but we only see her back. A couple of sex scenes take place under heavy
covers and nothing is visible. Some kissing and a lot of very explicit sexual talk. Also,
one scene of a man relieving himself while asleep: we see nothing, but we do hear.
VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - There is one boxing match between two men, and one between
a husband and wife. There's no gore, not even a bloody nose or split lip.
PROFANITY 5 - One F-word and some scatological language and lots of sexual
references. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Infidelity, sexism, racism, death. Some of the characters
smoke marijuana.
MESSAGE - You have to follow your dreams.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
