ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

A presumably heterosexual teacher (Kevin Kline) is
"outed" as gay on the Academy Awards.
SEX/NUDITY 2 - Sexual innuendo (including homosexual references) and
kissing: in one scene a couple are kissing passionately as he throws her on the bed and
starts to take off his shirt; in another scene the kiss is between two men.
VIOLENCE/GORE 1 - Mainly played for laughs: a scuffle, a few punches, people
nearly get hit by cars twice.
PROFANITY 5 - One F-word, a scatological reference, a couple of anatomical
references, a few mild obscenities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Teaching, homosexuality, being outed, celebrity.
MESSAGE - Be true to yourself.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
