Nick Nolte plays a failed actor with an impish daughter
(Whittni Wright) who's revealed to be a born actress.
SEX/NUDITY 2 - There is a brief nude shot of a woman running across a hall
and a side shot of Nolte's naked body, although nothing is exposed. There is also a sex
scene -- with no nudity -- which is more comical than sexy.
VIOLENCE/GORE 1 - There is a spoof of an action-adventure film depicted
which shows a man beating another with a large, bloody animal bone.
PROFANITY 5 - The F-word is used once along with a half dozen scatological
and sexual references. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Divorce, single parenthood, incarceration, unemployment.
MESSAGE - Sometimes it's necessary to set aside your own dreams to let your
kids live them out for you.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
