ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|
Unlike the MPAA we do not assign one inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest, depending on quantity and context. |

The basic concept is to lampoon world events (the Gulf War)
and films ("Rambo," "Apocalypse Now," "Basic Instinct,"
"Star Wars," "Terminator 2," and classics like "Casablanca"
and "The Wizard Of Oz"). Charlie Sheen, Lloyd Bridges, Valeria Golino and
Richard Crenna star.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - One bedroom scene. A woman is shown from the back, wearing
only panties, and then from the front in silhouette. One naked male derriere, shown very
briefly, in a gag where a tent blows away to reveal a man showering. Some kissing and
slobbering.
VIOLENCE/GORE 4 - Lots of shooting, fighting, and fireworks. A man is
splattered against a wall like a fly, but it's all silly-looking slapstick, not
horrifying. All violence in this film is broad and cartoonish; more Roadrunner than Rambo.
PROFANITY 5 - The F-word is used once. Also some scatological language and
various insults. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Sex, MIA's.
MESSAGE - Absolutely none.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
