ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

Romantic black comedy with Drew Barrymore as a single,
pregnant woman who's the object of affection of a man who was an accomplice in her
former lover's death. Catherine O'Hara, Jake Busey and Luke Wilson co-star.
SEX/NUDITY 2 - Sexual innuendo. A woman finds a box of condoms. A woman is
pregnant after having an affair with a married man -- we see nothing on-screen, though.
VIOLENCE/GORE 6 - A man apparently dies of fright after two men chase him in
a helicopter and shoot blanks at him. A man in a helicopter fires its guns at three
people. A drunken man with a gun threatens customers in a restaurant; another man kicks
him, takes the gun, and then points it at him. A bullet, which had been put into a
hamburger on a grill, explodes and flies around a room. A man attempts to kill a woman by
gassing her; she and another person pass out. A scuffle.
PROFANITY 4 - Many scatological references, some anatomical references and
many obscenities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Extramarital affairs, death, revenge, dysfunctional families,
relationships.
MESSAGE - Love can be found in the most unlikely places and under the most
unlikely circumstances.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
